OzConUK 2018

Updated: Mar 23

Hey Skwad!

Usually, I hang out with supervillains, but I’m @Ozconuk and heroes can be ok too I guess... Then again, I'm thinking about joining the Dark Side. They seem pretty nice.

I'm not quite sure what I was expecting from my first-ever con, but needless to say, it was an absolute success! I had so much fun browsing the stores, myself effectively looting the very friendly @paperthincomics who I regularly stopped to have a chat with (did I really spend £30?!) about some seriously cool comic book stuff (plus, I got a free hat from spending so much on comics)!

You may also notice in that second photo @stevecavesphotos' professional photography! He very lovingly sent me a digital copy (for free I might add!) and so I thought I’d share them with all of you! As you can see they are AMAZING! You may also notice that my lipstick is a bit messed up, a girl’s gotta eat #sorrynotsorry

But other than that (which is no one’s fault but my own!), I’m so in love with these and hope to work with @stevecavesphotos again (if they’ll have me 😇)!

I would highly recommend him to anyone who never had professional shots done before, they were so friendly and made me feel very comfortable in front of the camera! I'd also recommend Steve anyway even if you have had photoshoots done before!

Also, I had loads of fun with @martinportlock as you can see in these pictures and can’t thank him enough for organising an amazing first Con!

However, apparently walking around a con in heels for several hours is not the best idea in the world... Here’s a photo from the first day of the con where I hadn’t really realised how much walking you do at a convention (what a fool I was!) and had to sit down (yes, on the floor) for 20 minutes straight! 😂 In the words of Harley herself, "I really gotta work on my cardio"! Take my advice future Twila and pack a pair of flats! Big thank you to @whisperinggypsies for suggesting reinforcing the heels with clear non-foaming Gorilla glue and buying a shoe size bigger than normal and putting in memory foam or gel inserts for comfort!

I also got to met so many incredible cosplayers, such as cosplay judge @aimeeswiftfitness who gave me an “honourable mention” for my cosplay. She is beyond amazing as Wonder Woman and we had a lovely chat in our character's iconic accents. When she came on stage to her theme tune and all the dramatic lighting I literally screamed:

Ohmygod! It’s Wonder Woman! That’s so sick!

Additionally, needless to say, I had a smashing time meeting @macdoog (otherwise known as UKNEGAN) what with us being baseball bat buddies and all!

I also entered the cosplay completion and while I didn't win, I SWEAR I HAD FUN! It was the first time I was on stage, I’ll be honest wasn’t quite sure where to look. Guys if you’re taking a picture of me/cosplayers in general, please LET US KNOW! 😂 I look soooo bored in these photos even though I was having the best day ever! Ok, mini rant over!

I also got to meet some amazing special guests! One of them was @quintonflynn1, who wrote me a really lovely message (see below). He’s an American actor, voice actor and writer and just overall a really cool guy.

Hey Twila, I edited and sent 7 great ones of us above. You're a natural actress/model! You are (as we say in the States) shit hot and adorable! You are a bright, energetic, saucy sprite. And by far the best Harley I have met at any convention anywhere. Keep it up! You’re a great actress and I’m so excited for you! Stay the course. You’ve got it! 😃👏🏼 Best, Quinton ☘️

Another awesome fella I met was @zenlyons who was in Star Wars: A New Hope as well as many other films and tv. He was also besties with Marvin Gaye (RIP 😢) and described me as "fab!".

I also had the pleasure of meeting @austenalan today! He has been @harrisonfordpage‘s body double (in Star Wars and Indiana Jones) as well as doing tv and other awesome stuff! I’m meeting ALL the famous people, aren’t I?

Moreover, I actually got to interview a professional voice actor, Marc Silk!! He was ever-so-patient with me despite my being extremely nervous at both speaking to a celebrity and also because the interview was very impromptu as well as the first interview I've ever done!

I promise I’ll have new content soon, because of sixth form, amongst other stuff, I’m trying to work out what events and cons I can get to 😕🤞 Also, major thank you for the increase in followers lately! Like Hello! Where have you all come from???😂 If you case you haven't seen me before, hi! My name’s Twila and I cosplay (in case you couldn’t tell😂)!

But hey, all I'll advise you to do is never bring a stormtrooper to a gunfight...

(Big thanks to @becca_cosplay2002 for these pictures!)

Even more photos/spam from OzConUK!

Hope all the special guests and my fellow cosplayers had an awesome time over this weekend,

XOXO Totally Twila
